Last year we went 46-16 on our Lions predictions, and tracked the result of every one. We’re currently at 46-21 (0-5 this season, yikes).
Here’s how it works:
Every blog post, tweet, & podcast episode will be reviewed for “takes” after they are released to the public.
A “take” will be classified as any statement that can be proven as right or wrong in the future.
Every week we will update the “Take Accuracy” using the Take-ulator, to show if we’re full of shit or prove we know ball.
The Take-ulator can be found on the blog’s home page.
Starting off… (odds are accurate to time article is posted using DraftKings Sportsbook)

Lions -6.5 -120
If you’ve been following the Lions’ resurgence under Dan Campbell, you remember the play pictured above like it was yesterday. Second season looking bleak, needing to string some wins together, Brock Wright cribs a 4th down pass from 51 yards out late in the 4th quarter to beat the Jets at their place and begin an absolute heater to end the season.
That was the last time the two teams played each other, and a LOT has changed since.
Aaron Glenn called our defense against the Jets during that game, now he leads the Jets in his 2nd year as head coach, doing a fine job with a difficult rebuild. AG’s Jets step out the #1 defense in the entire league today. As for the Lions, the following year after that game we acquired a dude named Jahmyr Gibbs, and the rest is history. The Lions walk out with one of the most prolific scoring offenses in football. Translation: be ready for an absolute dogfight today.
We have the Lions covering the spread for the first time this season based off of the energy alone. The numbers will tell you a skewed story, as the Jets have faced the Titans and a fraudulent Packers team in a monsoon through their first two games, while the Lions have matched up against a dark horse Saints team and the world’s best football player in week 2. Today’s the first time AG’s Jets faces his former team and coworkers. Both coaches very familiar with what each other are about. In a squared up physical scrap, we got the Lions showing up in a big way and leaving Ford Field with a win by 7 points or more. Detroit’s offense is just too powerful to stop, and Geno Smith is the worst QB we’ve faced so far this season.

Amon-Ra St. Brown Anytime TD Scorer -120
The Sun God is off to a HOT start in the 2026 campaign. The Jets have the 4th best pass defense in the league, but as previously mentioned they haven’t faced much of a passing attack yet this season.
Trading away Sauce Gardner this past offseason, St. Brown prevails in today’s matchup against the NY secondary.
The Lions have a young and banged up offensive line, which would be the only obstacle to this prop hitting. Rookie edge rusher David Bailey is off to a great start to his career, and he’ll be lined up across Lions rookie Blake Miller who left last week’s game with an injury. If he manages to go down again, Larry Borom will return to the lineup and… we’d rather avoid that.
If the boys up front can keep Goff off of the ground today, Lions play their game and win.

Sam LaPorta 40+ Receiving Yards -169
With the last game against the Jets being dubbed “The Brock Wright Game”, it was simply because LaPorta was still at Iowa.
After drafting him the following offseason, the young Lions TE has been a top player in the league at his position. The Jets have a good front 7, and send quite a bit of pressure to force mistakes. They play tough, physical football. That is exactly the type of game that LaPorta shines. With the threat of Gibbs in the backfield, there will be at least a few times he squeaks open, especially if JG has to get rid of the ball quick.
LaPorta scored his first TD of the season last week at Buffalo, and will look to capitalize on an Aaron Glenn defense that he saw in practice for 2 years. 40+ isn’t much to ask for considering Sam’s run-after-catch and route running ability, a good 3-4 catches should do it.

Jared Goff 230+ Passing Yards -279
A short odds parlay booster, JG averages over 260 passing yards a game so far this year. The Lions offense will have to be on their A game to defeat this Jets defense, and because we have them covering -6.5 that would mean Goff has at least a decent day.
The good pressure NY creates will Gott throwing early and often, chunking away at this total all game. The Lions defense has been suspect at best this year, so there are no worries of the boys toning it down and going away from the pass really at all.
Still waiting for a Jameson Williams “here I finally am” game this year, St Brown, LaPorta and Gibbs should help carry Goff to this total on a flurry of short passes + RAC like we commonly see with this offense.
The Jets rank 1st in run defense, and while Gibbs will still get his today we believe, the majority of the offense comes through the air today.
